It Stares Into Your Soul....

Oh my, Huernia zebrina had a surprise for me this week, a double bloom that was a little...disconcerting.
Huernia in Bloom, MR, Oct 2014
Any strange creatures staring at you in YOUR garden??

NOTE: Alert Gardener Jim asked me if I posed the flowers. I did not. It has been blooming like crazy and two of the blooms were in that exact position when I watered it. They still are!

  1. This is a great capture, Marla!
At first glance I thought it was artificial decoration, the flowers blend so well with the color of the pot and are perfectly positioned at the upper edge.
Just goes to show that nature is still the best decorator.

  2. Indeed, she is! And isn't this the perfect plant for the spooky season? I think I'll make a large print of it to greet the trick-or-treaters at Halloween.

  3. I got mine just a bit over a month ago and it already bloomed 3 times! None of them bloomed AT the same time though, they take turns. I think there's a 4th one coming :) These are definitely prolific yet unique blooms

  4. Yep, kind of scary. It's like sometimes clowns are kind of scary. Now the Huernias are staring at us and planning something. Be careful Marla, very careful. And, have a nice day! :-)

    1. Oooo, clowns are always scary! And I'm sure I'll find out what that Huernia's planning soon- it doesn't seem to care for the mango next to it at all....

  5. Hi, David,
They sure are prolific! I am happy to hear you are enjoying your Huernia- they really are super plants. I think we are in the vanguard, that these plants are going to become much more popular. A Huernia for every house??
