New Year's Gardening Resolutions

In The Garden, MR, 2010
For 2013, I've come up with the following resolutions for my gardening (habit) hobby. I'm trying to keep it simple and paint with broad brushstrokes....

1. Concentrate on learning more about the plants I already keep, rather than racing off to find new specimens like I did in 2012!
2. Learn more about botany. Review the basics, and hopefully, take a university-level class.
3. Practice botanical drawing and painting. Try both abstracts, and realistic depictions.

That will do for a year, I think! What are your gardening resolutions for 2013?

  1. Happy new year Marla! That sounds like awesome new years resolutions. I'm sure you'll enjoy & succeed in them all. For me, acquire new plants :D, learn how to propagate through seeds & cuttings properly, & paint like I've never painted before. Have fun buddy! :D

  2. Practice propagation techniques, that's a very good one. It's much more fun, but much trickier than I thought to grow mesembs from seed. We'll be having fun for sure!

  3. Hmmm .. I suppose my resolutions are to:
    1) Keep up the fight against the blackberries,
    2) Take better care of the orchids, including monitoring seed pods to make sure they don't split and release all their seed on the ground before I can collect it,
    3) Take a little time every day to work outside (when it's not raining)

  4. Good resolutions. I would keep up the fight against blackberries by eating as many as possible.... In fact, if you need backup for the battles, I could find a lot of volunteers here!
