Coping with Sandy...I'll Be Back Soon!

We're coping with the outer bands of Hurricane Sandy, school is cancelled for Friday, I'll be back as soon as this has blown over! It's gotten too rough for surfing, unfortunately....

  1. Hope you weather Sandy OK. Hurricanes are no fun. That top photo looks really ominous.

    1. Getting better now, but yesterday was quite wild! Worried for the Eastern seaboard.

  2. Hi Marla,

When we were children we would search the beach as soon as we could after hurricanes, finding piles of whelks and even seahorses in the washed up seaweed. Sometimes, though, the beach sand itself would wash away right down to the hard coquina. I hope all is well, that you stay safe and dry and that your beach sand stays where it belongs.

    1. Our beaches are still closed, but the Sea Turtle Preservation Society (turtle rescuers) are waiting for the word to go out and rescue washbacks. The ocean has been very intense, and much higher than usual, for several days. Sadly these days, after bad storms, we usually just find tons of plastic trash....Hopefully, if there are turtles on the beach, we'll all find them and get them to safety!
